Live on Purpose

Hear this… you were created to live on purpose, with purpose!

Despite the upheaval we have been experiencing this year due to our build, refurbishment and extension, I have been conscious of our purpose. I have not been openly active in my art, writing and photography, but I have been receiving the dew of insight, rehabilitation after hard work, and refreshing. There is an excitement in there.

Just as this rose – one of mine photographed one June morning after the rain – is coated with droplets, so the presence of God has been coating us, my husband and I, as we listened and sought Him.

The rose is called ‘Breath of Life’, beautifully scented. Here, it is a picture of my message to today: our purpose must always come out of intimacy with God. Let’s allow this intimacy with Him to infuse our purpose; or our purpose is for nothing. God created us in intimacy for relationship with Him, and though we can choose our own way and walk away from Him, there is a cost.

Jesus saw the heart of the woman in the Bible who poured expensive perfume, her worldly treasure, over Him in gratitude and without concern for what people around her thought. It was His word that made her an example throughout all those years until now, and beyond. Her purpose was to demonstrate wholehearted devotion. She was the first to see Him after He rose from the dead, and became a witness to the disciples.

Today, she remains a witness to all who read, or hear, about her. She had no idea that would happen, but she was given a new purpose when she was delivered by Jesus, and came to faith in Him. ‘His purpose for us is freedom, in deep intimacy with Himself…’ (Week 1: Day Two: Purpose from The Posture Principle).

This rose, coated in dew, does nothing apart from being present, growing, and blooming. That is its focus. Its purpose is to delight the senses, to bring beauty to the lives of all who experience it.

Obviously, as human beings, and sons and daughters of God, there are actions we take toward fulfilling our God-given purpose. Seeing differently, as I have written about in my two books, means having a new perspective. Purpose is the second meditation on a biblical principle in my book The Posture Principle, which you can find here: Books.

Be blessed as you walk into your purpose!
